System Power flushing

A must when altering or upgrading central heating systems

System power flushing involves attaching a cleaning machine to your system to circulate cleaning chemicals through the pipes, boilers and radiators to rinse out the sludge and impurities. The main objective of a power flush is to restore a system with circulation and boiler rinse problems back to optimum operation.

When would you have a power flush
When fitting a new boiler When fitting new thermostatic radiator valves/upgrades to fully pumped Drop feed radiators To remove black sludge To descale boiler heat exchanger To cure boiler noise The building regulation for England and Wales part 1 2006, now require a central heating system to be cleaned and inhibited chemically with every boiler change. Even many boiler manufacturers now make the warranty dependent on specific flushing and cleaning benchmarks.

Modern central heating systems with high efficiency boilers are clean, efficient and economical, but ONLY if operating at peak performance.

At its best, your heating system needs clean water running freely through its pipes, radiators and pumps. when sludge and deposits build up, they create blockages which force the pump to work harder. This means you waste energy through your pump and therefore pay more to heat your home and water.

The majority of systems suffer from black iron oxide contamination. This creates thick sludge deposits that are a result of corrosion taking place within radiators and other metallic components. The oxide particles range from very large to sub-micron, with the latter leeching into the system water continuously during use and eventually clogging the boiler and radiators.
